ICMP Student Bags Foos Support Slot

The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance recently saw yet another of their drum alumni hit the nation’s arena stages as Brady Cole, a four-piece rock band hailing from Fife, Scotland, toured in support of the Foo Fighters. Brady Cole features ex-ICMP student Sean Crossan on drums and, taking their inspiration from bands such as Led Zeppelin, Oasis, Nirvana and The Who, they can now count none other than Dave Grohl as a fan since the Foo Fighters frontman asked the band to support his crew on their recent bout of UK dates.

By all accounts, Brady Cole went down a storm with the Foos’ audiences, and look set to make a serious impact on the UK music scene in 2008.

Thomas Lang’s a Hit at the ICMP

The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance recently played host to a masterclass from none other than Rhythm favourite Thomas Lang, who has recently joined the Institute as a member of their visiting teaching faculty.

Playing his fully customised Roland kit, by all accounts the legendary Lang led a fantastic masterclass for a packed room of students, who are already looking forward to his next visit.

Pete Whittard, Managing Director at the Institute, said that Lang’s appearance was rather a coup for the school:

“Of course, many schools invite great artists to conduct masterclasses and clinics from time to time, as do we. However, to have someone of the calibre and reputation of Thomas Lang not just visit us and give a masterclass, but also dedicate time to actually teach our students over two days and make a longer term commitment to the Institute by joining as a visiting member of our teaching faculty, is both an honour for us and a huge benefit to Institute students. Where else can drum students have such a level of access to one of the world’s greats?!!”
